Prague City

Prague is notable for its architecture styles dating from different periods – baroque, rococo, gothic, Romanism and so on. The old town is really remarkable. Staromestske namesti is called the central part of the old town.  Right there you could see the Astronomical Clock. This is a medieval clock with calendar and some figures moving. Tourists mostly gather to see the figures, though the clock shows also the position of the Moon and the Sun, as well as other astronomical data. Another very famous attraction is the Prague Castle. That’s a place that carries the atmosphere of the Czech kings, as well as of the Czech presidents.

When it comes to museums, Prague is like a treasury: you can choose between the Museum of decorative arts presenting impressive collection of decorative and applied arts and design from the antiquity up to the present, the National Museum, Vysehrad castle and cemetery – where Dvorak and Smetana were buried, the Museum of the artist Mucha known by his Art Nouveau works and of course, the 7th best zoo in the world – the Prague Zoo.

Though we may talk about the traditional Czech cuisine, it is the beer that the Czech Republic is notable for. The Czechs consider it their national drink.  The best brands of Czech beer are: Pilsner Urquell and Budejovicky Budvar. That is according to the experts. According to me, almost any beer in the Czech Republic is great, especially when they bring it in those enormous half-liter pints and pay attention if it needs a replacement. Actually, if you drink up your glass of beer and put it on the table, that is a sign that you want another one, so be careful. It’s so hard to refuse the replacement! As they say, there is always room for one more!

I have been several times to Prague. I have flown by airplane, travelled by bus and by car. Travel by plane its fast and comfortable and if you look online carefully you will be able to pick up some very good deals.

The Prague airport is big, well arranged with enough of information about the many international destinations it is offering. Prague is an intermediate stop of many travel itineraries. So, you may take a plane from there to almost everywhere. If your connection is in several hours that shouldn’t be a problem – you can taste local cuisine at the airport or read a newspaper. The bus is not that comfortable but car is another thing. Car permits you to see the way Czechs are living. You see them on the streets going to work; you see how they dress, how they drive, how they talk and how they laugh. Travelling to Prague by car is giving you a new experience, a preparation to read their souls especially on the roads!
